Because the board got shutdown again because of a load of database, I had to fettle with the settings again.
As part of that, the server no longer stores what topics you have or haven't read.
IT IS STILL RECORDED!
But now, that information lives in a delicious cookie, rather than the forum database.

Upside: this should reduce the load of database.
Downside: if you use multiple devices to access the board, or you reject delicious cookies, you won't always have that information cookie. But the New Posts feature should take care of that.

Some unpleasant miscreant was firing incessant database queries at our server, which forced the Legal Department of our hosting company, via their Abuse subdivision, to shut us down. No I have none.
All I can do it button the hatches, and tighten up a few things. Such as time limits on how long you may take to compose a post and hit Debauch! As of 24/01/10, I've set that at 30 minutes for now.

To restrict further overloads, any unregistered users had to be locked out.

Yes. But there's only so much the Administerrerrerr can do to keep this place running.

I like to post stuff on freecycle that I have no use for any more. Here was my latest debacle. Start at the bottom. A 1/4 tank of gas to drive 20 miles, at the most?
Todd,

I'm very sorry to hear this. It is no problem though I can just repost the item. I am however very concerned about your suburban. You may need to replace your air filter, clean your injectors, or maybe even get your ECU looked at. I used to work in Richardson and don't think I ever burned a 1/4 tank of gas going to work and back.

We're having friends over today so we wont be able to make it. In reality, I cant afford to burn another 1/4 tank of gas in our suburban to go all the way out there and back again.

Regards,
Todd

Let me get with Genevieve and find out when we can come by. If you want to, just put the jeans in a couple bags and we can pick them up on your front porch whenever we can get there. That way you don't have to worry about being there at all. Thats what we've done in the past and it seems to work out of for everyone. We've even put kids/babys car seats out front and no one "stole" them so if you want to do that, that would be great. Just let me know.....

I have 8 pairs of girls jeans sizes 8 and 10. Arizona, Justice, Old Navy and Levi's. I'm going to be now but I will check my email in the morning and the first one will get them.

Thanks!
