First fix:
  • open the menu at the top
  • hit New Posts to see what's actually new and browse the new stuff from there

this will zero the unread anything for you, so you can strive forth into the exciting world of the new cookie thing.

Because the board got shutdown again because of a load of database, I had to fettle with the settings again.
As part of that, the server no longer stores what topics you have or haven't read.
IT IS STILL RECORDED!
But now, that information lives in a delicious cookie, rather than the forum database.

Upside: this should reduce the load of database.
Downside: if you use multiple devices to access the board, or you reject delicious cookies, you won't always have that information cookie. But the New Posts feature should take care of that.

You know the email (if you don't, see in the registration info below), you know where to find the Administerrerrerr on the Midget Circus.

Some unpleasant miscreant was firing incessant database queries at our server, which forced the Legal Department of our hosting company, via their Abuse subdivision, to shut us down. No I have none.
All I can do it button the hatches, and tighten up a few things. Such as time limits on how long you may take to compose a post and hit Debauch! As of 24/01/10, I've set that at 30 minutes for now.

To restrict further overloads, any unregistered users had to be locked out.
How do we know who is or isn't an unregistered user?
By forcing anyone who wants in to Log In.
Is that annoying?
Yes. But there's only so much the Administerrerrerr can do to keep this place running.

any other members on myspace?

A forum for the off topic stuff. Everything from religion to philosophy to sex to humor (see why it used to be called Buggery?). All manner of rude psychological abuse is welcome and encouraged.

In response to your mad max post, I'm all up for mad-maxing some cars.

I have to disagree with the 70's muscle car idea though. Tradition is nice, but you'll get more pillaging for your, uh, booty if you update. Perhaps a subaru WRX? All wheel drive, crazy fast, and cheap to run.

Or, an early 90's buick century. I try and try and try and just can't kill mine. And it seats 6 (somewhat) comfortably. Plus there are lots of them around, which is good if you have to scavenge for parts.
There's no such thing as "too Mad Max."

i had a buick century, 89 if i remember correctly. my buddy drove it into a tree doing about 30, pushed the engine and tranny back and smashed the dash in. he kicked out the windshield and drove it home.

FBR,

I you found the same why I've found a few other people. Start on a friends page, find a cute girl I don't know and keep repeating the pattern. I saw your user pic and was like some ass stole his picture, then realized that it was you.

myspace is making me really depressed, all I see is pictures of people screaming "look at me, i'm special, i have tattoos and i like to laugh and drink tequilla" while all the people i see or meet in the really world scream "look at me, i have a grey suit, i'm a salesman and i'm boring, motorcycles are dangerous you look weird"
I'm not really from around here.

That's mine.. I actually update my blog too. Occasionally with an off-beat story or two, but it's mostly mindless drivel that only matters to good friends.

Myspace is definately a very, very strange thing. My best friend uses it, with tremendous success, to fuck hot high-school girls with little to no effort. The only concession he has to make in exchange for lazy, awkward sex with high schoolers is dealing with their overwhelming stupidity. Seriously, i've met a few of them and not a goddamn one of 'em had any whirly bits between their ears.

I'm also quite proud of the fact that ALL of those people on my friend-list are people that i met in real life - before anybody ever even thought of a MySpace.com

EDIT: Just made an exception for Red.

The only people I don't know in real life from my list are either UTMC members or other motorcycle related people I've met online. Myspace is a big online popularity contest for a lot of people. I see it as a handy dandy way to keep in touch with old friends and met some new ones. Plus, it's networking. I've got some good advice from people in groups and I've helped a few people out as well.
