Because the board got shutdown again because of a load of database, I had to fettle with the settings again.
As part of that, the server no longer stores what topics you have or haven't read.
IT IS STILL RECORDED!
But now, that information lives in a delicious cookie, rather than the forum database.

Upside: this should reduce the load of database.
Downside: if you use multiple devices to access the board, or you reject delicious cookies, you won't always have that information cookie. But the New Posts feature should take care of that.

Some unpleasant miscreant was firing incessant database queries at our server, which forced the Legal Department of our hosting company, via their Abuse subdivision, to shut us down. No I have none.
All I can do it button the hatches, and tighten up a few things. Such as time limits on how long you may take to compose a post and hit Debauch! As of 24/01/10, I've set that at 30 minutes for now.

GADSDEN FLAG

Post by Jaeger » Thu Mar 02, 2006 12:29 pm

I should probably put this in "politics," but damnit I think they're cool just 'cause.

So... I've always been a big fan of supporting oldschool proper Baroque-style Americanism -- Jeffersonian Americanism, that is. Y'know, respect for the Constitution and all that. Silly me.

One of the best emblems of that, to me, was the Gadsden Flag, or the "Don't Tread On Me" flag... which appears to be making something of a resurgance. Yay.

Sticker:

Auto magnet "ribbon"
<img src ="http://us.st11.yimg.com/store1.yimg.com ... 3_11513411">

Also check out the rest of their site: http://www.gadsdenandculpeper.com

Anyway. For me it's a way to show patriotism without jingoism. If anybody knows more about the Gadsden flag that I don't, let me know! Otherwise, thought I"d just share with the class.

(I'm also thinking in terms of the next round of UTMC patches... maybe. ;) )

Definately for the next round.

It's commonly used by the Libertarian Party these days, who I'm all for, but they're not making much of a dent.

I've got like a 3'x5' of it hanging in my garage. When the weekend of the 4th comes, I plan on mounting it to my bike for a few days, as a proper comeback to the fat bastards on Fat Boys hanging the Stars and Stripes without thinking about it.

Speaking of Libertarians losing, the Patriot Act was just re-upped. There are so many good things in there. Too bad the rest of it uses the Constitution as an asswipe.

the gadsden flag, yes. i've always liked that one. and in fact, i will prolly be getting a patch of the flag and attaching it to my leathers.

so it would be like this:

left shoulder/arm (from top, down)- US flag patch, Gadsden flag patch, and a patch that reads "Legalize Freedom"

right shoulder/arm: UTMC patch and then a 30STM patch.

er, so i guess this is about Gadsden, not my patches, so here's a couple links:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gadsden_flag
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Gadsden

and yes, i have a hardon for Wikipedia

Go Libertarians! Boo Patriot Act.

Hrm. I confess I've heard naught but shit about the Patriot Act -- any good portions of it are rather burried in the rancid dogshit legislation that fucks the Constitution like a cheap whore.

Oh, sorry -- was that out loud?

*cough*

Anyway -- yeah, I realized after posting that apparently more folks use the flag than I realized -- which suits me fine. :) Yay. I have one on my leathers next to the Union-Jack-Triumph patch. I wanted something patriotic, but... certainly not the current direction the U.S. is heading.

Ok, enough preaching. If nothing else it's cool history and a bitchin' design.

I have a subdued black and white American flag for my leathers. I would love to get a DTOM flag.
