Because the board got shutdown again because of a load of database, I had to fettle with the settings again.
As part of that, the server no longer stores what topics you have or haven't read.
IT IS STILL RECORDED!
But now, that information lives in a delicious cookie, rather than the forum database.

Upside: this should reduce the load of database.
Downside: if you use multiple devices to access the board, or you reject delicious cookies, you won't always have that information cookie. But the New Posts feature should take care of that.

Welcome! Don't mind GG he didn't get the memo that this forum is about all bikes and not the same boring thing regurgitated over and over. After all it's YOUR money so spend it on what makes YOU happy. SV650's are great starter bikes if that happens to be what you like, but if you want something else you will regret not getting what you really wanted in the first place.

Cruisers are great bikes to start out on, I did I even bought my first one in Austin at Woods Honda 15 years ago while I was stationed in Ft. Hood. It was a 1996 VT600 Shadow VLX Deluxe and I think it had more letters in it's name than it did horsepower! What an awesome little bike it was, I put almost 40k miles on it in the first two years I owned it and even rode it to PA twice and even did 1100 miles in one day on it. I had so much fun on that little thing and I still miss it every day. A year after I started riding I did add a FZR600 to my collection which was another awesome starter bike but I still liked the Shadow better. My advice for you is ride everything you can get you hands on, you never know what might tickle your fancy.

My 600 Shadow a week after I bought it riding near Waco, note the smile-
